Up to Powder River Pass in the Big Horns

Left Worland and headed fo the Big Horn Mountains and the most aggressive climbing of the tour.  First climb of about 5,000 ft was a constant climb for 25 miles.
Notice the road in the picture below.

I made it to the top about 1 PM.

Then it was down and up for the rest of the day for a total of more than 8,000 ft of climb.  Most I have ever done.

I remember back in January looking at the itinerary and noting that July 7 would be a tough day. I questioned if I could ever do such a climb.  Well I did !!!  Guess the gym time paid off .

The sign  pictured below provides a summary of some of the road grades we had AFTER the climb to the pass.  The downhills were great

Because of road repair our new route for Friday is now more than 100 miles so I need  to get so rest .

Some more pictures from today.

Will remember this day as a highlight of this tour.

  1. OK. You've managed to cite me of any latent desire I might have harbored to duplicate your effort anytime in the future.
